Part of the Midsumma festival celebrating Queer Culture is Affinity For Midsumma, an exhibition of very well produced photographic works on canvas that explore the uncertain lines around attraction and sexuality. In the photographs anonymous figures embrace one another, their nude torsos pressed so closely together that their separate bodies become a single form. Linked together, distinctions occur not between bodies but in the surfaces of light and dark, rough and smooth.
Connor’s strength is in composition, simplifying a complex subject matter into a series of clear and minimal images. This show is very well put together and makes good use of the bright space of 69’s front gallery.
